Catastrophic Insurance Coverage

Health insurance doesn't have to be about a full, comprehensive policy. Sometimes, a policy that covers the possibility of an accident or major surgery is all that we really need. With catastrophic insurance coverage you can get this important coverage without the high premiums sometimes associated with regular health insurance policies.

Catastrophic insurance plans (also called major medical plans) do not cover any expenses related to preventative care, minor wound care, or any kind of health monitoring service. Instead, they cover some of the expenses associated with major, catastrophic illnesses and accidents. If you are sent to emergency room, it is likely that much of that expense will be covered by your catastrophic policy. Other expenses covered include hospital expenses like room, board and incidentals, surgical expenses, and physician expenses.

Like any insurance policy, catastrophic plans have limits and deductibles. You will be required to pay the deductible amount out of pocket, then the insurance company will step in and pay their portion of your expenses, up to the limit.

Because the insurable incidents covered by catastrophic plans are so limited, the premiums tend to be low and widely affordable. As with any policy, choosing a high deductible and low limit further limits the risk of expense to the insurance company and will result in even lower rates-but as with any insurance policy, consumers must make sure that they choose a deductible they can afford and a limit that is reasonable and still offers a relevant benefit.

Catastrophic policies are not for everyone. If you have a chronic illness or injury, a catastrophic policy can step in when a major medical incident occurs, but will not give you the day-to-day and preventative coverage that you may need in order to live a long and healthy life. But if you are unable to secure a regular health insurance policy and don't yet qualify to join the high risk pool for your state, then it may be a helpful alternative.

Facts About Lyme Disease

If you life on the East Coast or travel to the East Coast on vacation, when the temperatures climb you know that mosquitos are not going to be your only problem. For those that live along the East Coast, and in some parts of California, the disease known as Lyme Disease is more than a nuisance. Lyme Disease is a tick-borne illness that starts as a bacterial infection and can lead to some serious problems. It was named after the town in Connecticut where the first group of cases became diagnosed in the early 1970's. Severe cases can lead to neurological problems, depression, paralysis, and in pregnant women, the disease can be fatal to unborn babies. Read here to find out more about Lyme Disease and what the treatments of choice are for those who are suffering.

Lyme Disease occurs when you are bitten by a tick, and it burrows under your skin and emits a bacteria that is screw shaped. Unfortunately many people do not know they have even been bitten, and more than half of all Lyme Disease patients do not develop the early warning rash, and so this illness leads to many other complications such as cardiac problems, arthritis, joint pain and swelling, and stiffness that can be very painful.

The first sign that you or someone you love may have Lyme Disease will often be the warning rash that occurs after the tick bite. The rash will develop as a donut shape around the area of the tick bite, and this may take a few weeks even to occur. In more than half of the cases reported, this rash does not show up and you may not know you have a problem until more serious symptoms arise.

There are a number of treatments available for Lyme Disease, but given the wide array of symptoms you may experience, you will want to try a multi-pronged approach if your symptoms are extensive. Alternative therapies have been found to be very effective in treating Lyme Disease, and can include massage, physical therapy, and even occupational therapy if you have the common symptoms of swelling, tenderness, and joint pain. Soaking in Jacuzzi tubs or taking long warm baths will also alleviate some of your swelling and tenderness at the joints.

Of course, you will need to treat the infection as well in order to alleviate these symptoms permanently. Today's treatment for Lyme Disease is doxycycline, and is often the first course of treatment recommended by doctors. The reason for this is that this medication is more easily absorbed than other antibiotic medications, and only needs to be taken twice a day as opposed to other antibiotics where intake is more frequent. This factor helps ease side effects and will be more tolerated by your gastrointestinal tract. Overall you will find that Lyme Disease is not as scary as it sounds. If you have a standard case of Lyme Disease that has not progressed to more serious symptoms, you will find that treatment with Doxycycline will be a very effective way to quickly treat your infection and get you back to your life in no time at all.

Good Posture

Posture might be the most important thing for backs. Short of walking around with a yard-stick in the back of your trousers, here is what you can do to fix your back.

When standing, hold your chest high, shoulders back (not tense), abs and butt tight, with your feet an even distance apart and sharing the weight. Your head should be looked straight ahead and your knees should never lock.

When sitting, rest your feet flat on the floor, back flat against the chair, chin tucked in a bit, shoulders relaxed, and back straight. Try to imagine a line shooting from your neck and head directly to the ceiling. It might help to cushion your lower back also.

What to Eat and Drink

There are some basic principles when deciding what to eat. High protein, high fiber, and high in minerals like magnesium, iron, and copper. With that in mind, here are some perfect foods for sufferers of back pain:

  • Avocados
  • Nuts, specifically Almonds and Pecans
  • Soy Beans and Tofu
  • Spinach, which is better for you cooked

You should also take a multivitamin.

Doing these stretches and taking good care of your back is really hard to do when your have near crippling pain preventing you from even thinking straight, never mind standing or sitting straight. That's why so many people turn to Carisoprodol to ease their pain. It's important to remember that you have to keep working at it once you're on Carisoprodol in order to keep back pain at bay. And take it easy. You can't be on Carisoprodol forever, but you can make your back feel at peace.

Clarifying Confusion over Corticosteroids and Pregnancy

If you're considering continuing medication during pregnancy or nursing, chances are you need that drug. Chances are that without it, your quality of life will be severely impaired. Whether you need treatment for cancer, autoimmune diseases, asthma, allergies, lupus, colitis, arthritis, Still's disease, Bell's palsy, Chrohn's disease, pemphigus, sarcoidosis, kidney disease, mononucleosis, Epstein-Barr, organ transplant, migraines, or many others, choosing to go off your medication is always going to be a big decision. It doesn't make it any easier that the medical community hasn't reached a consensus on whether pregnant and nursing women should discontinue treatment. The best you can hope for is an informed doctor to assist in your decision-making process. Below, you will find specific information on the issues concerning this corticosteroid drug, pregnancy, and nursing.

Category C

Prednisolone, the active ingredient converted by the liver, is placed in pregnancy category C by the FDA. Pregnancy category C drugs have shown bad effects on fetuses using controlled animal reproduction studies. However, these drugs have not had adequate enough testing with human studies for the FDA to approve of or warn against usage. They note that category C medications may "warrant use" during pregnancy even when the dangers are taken into account.

So where does that leave you? Nowhere really. All that says is, "See if you think it's worth it." So, assuming you know the benefits of continuing medication, let's take a look at the risks.

Pregnancy

While there have not been any large studies on humans involving the FDA or meeting their standards, studies have shown that the risk of birth defects in non-human animal testing is elevated. Specifically, cleft palate may be a danger in human fetuses. This finding comes from four epidemiological studies, and one specific one in California, which showed a significant rise in the defect. However, there have been many similar studies which show no statistically significant results for any specific birth defect. The result is wide open for debate, but it seems as if there is not a danger clear enough to indict the drug, and that speaks volumes. You can see why it is pregnancy class C.

However, a Michigan study of birth defects notes that, using a database of 229,101 pregnancies from 1985 to 1992, the pregnancies in which the mother was exposed to prednisolone in the first trimester shows a "statistically significant increase" in birth defects on the whole. To be in line with the control group, there should have been six cases of birth defects. However, in actuality, there were eleven cases. To complicate matters further, there was no strong association between Prednisone, prednisolone, and any specific defect, such as cleft palate, in this study.

Nursing

Numerous tests have shown that the amount of Prednisone or prednisolone found in breast milk is at most trace. While no testing on human children has occurred, the science says that the amount found in breast milk should not be enough to cause any danger in human children. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Prednisone is compatible with breast feeding.

How to Achieve Long-Term Weight Loss

Whether you are struggling to lose some baby weight, have a few unwanted pounds, or are among the one in five Americans effected by obesity, you know that long term weight loss is not easily achieved. There are many treatments and methods available on the market today that make weight loss in and of itself very easy, but can you sustain the weight loss over a period of time? Research shows that most weight lost in traditional diet and over the counter methods only leads to loss of water weight, and this means your waist line will not decrease for the long term. If this sounds like you, and you are tired of yo-yo dieting and trying every new diet fad, maybe it's time to step up your game a little bit. Here you will find a host of weight loss treatments that are safe, effective, and WILL mean long term weight loss!

Fighting excess weight with the use of vitamins is a long standing tradition that goes back to the days of Hippocrates. With advances in science and technology, using vitamins at an intensive level is now being used for successful long term weight loss. Vitamins such as B12 are currently being used in oral formulations or pill forms that help you to lose weight effectively. In many cases, shots of vitamins like B12 are offered through advanced weight loss clinics that will monitor your intake and progress for you. B12 shots are now being proven to not only help you achieve your weight loss goals, but also are very beneficial to improving overall health in other areas as well.

Vitamin shots or vitamins by oral form are known to be effective in achieving long term weight loss due to their effect on your metabolism. You will love the calming effects on your nervous system, and will not only find yourself losing weight, but also feel better during the entire process! Specifically vitamin shots will be used to give you more energy, and to help you with your cravings. Some shots are also known to target fat areas directly, and can even burn your fat for you while you sleep.

Injections of amino acids are now being used as well in many weight loss clinics around the world. These are often found in a cocktail known as MIC, for Methione, Inositol, and Choline, and this cocktail has been known to target fat directly. The amino acid MIC shot targets your liver where your fat is metabolised, and will actually remove your fat from your body for you.

Diet pills or pills for appetite suppression are also very effective in helping you achieve your long term weight loss goals. Many people that suffer from excess weight also have issues with serving size and elevated hunger strikes, and appetite suppression pills such as Phentermine will help you deal with this problem very effectively. It is true that the less you eat, the more you will lose and the faster you will lose it, and treatments such as Phentermine help you make smart eating choices throughout your day. There is no one magic pill that will help you achieve your long term weight loss goals, but combining one or more of these very effective treatments will be sure to have a significant impact on your clothing size sooner than later.

Accutane and Justin Bieber - spot the difference

Celebrity is one of these strange cultural things. People become famous, often for no particularly important reason except their ability to sing or play a sport well. It's always been around. In ancient times, top warriors and "entertainers" would rule the cultural roost. Today, we seem less impressed by real soldiers, preferring the Hollywood version. Anyway, for better or worse, these people are able to use their fame to influence their fans - that's one step away from fanatics whose intense enthusiasm leads them to dress and act in the same way. It becomes a kind of fame by association when you suddenly see people walking around wearing the latest styles shown on the pages of the influential magazines. Most of the time, this is fairly harmless. Manufacturers and distributors pay celebrities to endorse their products. The fans buy the products. If the products are good, everyone is happy. Sometimes the products are less than good and the celebrity's name gets dragged through the mud. Although not quite on the same point, Paris Hilton is being sued again. This time, a hair extension company paid Hilton to wear its product but, remarkably, she turned up on red carpets wearing a competitor's product. How sad for all involved given the names of the two competing products have now been trumpeted all over the news media for the last few weeks.

The most recent example is Justin Bieber. He's the latest baby-faced, teen sensation to step out of YouTube. And, wherever you look, you see pictures of him. What great skin! But, like all sixteen year olds, he's prone to the odd outburst of acne. So, moving with the cultural tide, one of the leading benzoyl peroxide products has recruited him as the new face of their anti-acne lotion. He follows in the tradition of Jessica Simpson, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and others prepared to speak out in favor of this antibacterial. The marketing theory is solid like a rock. The target market buy his music and swoon over his picture. They will also want skin as smooth as his. They will buy this product. And, for the mild cases of acne, this will work out well. Benzoyl peroxide is a tried-and-tested way of dealing with skin problems. The addition of a moisturizer also leaves the skin feeling good.

But don't get too carried away by endorsement. Justin Bieber may be the best new kid on the block, but the product will not deal with the more severe cases of acne. Indeed, if you use it for too long, moisturizers or not, it can cause the skin to dry and peel. For the really dramatic outbreaks that will not respond to any of the other treatments you need Accutane. Like benzoyl peroxide, there are side effects if you don't follow the rules. But when you step up to the more powerful medications, you always take a risk to get the results. So, remember the name Accutane. It may not have the endorsement of Justin Bieber, but we think he would use it if he did get severe acne.

Buy Ambien but get a diagnosis of your sleep disorder

Thanks to the internet and the growth of the online pharmacies, it's just so easy to buy your drugs. All it takes is a few clicks and before you can say Jiminy Cricket, Cowabunga, or whatever leaps into your mind when you're looking for just the right thing to shout when you want to make a point, the padded envelope is on its way to you. But there's a trap in the speed of this transaction. You've been watching all those TV ads. You're sold on the idea of this drug as the bestest treatment for whatever ails you. No more lurking in the doctor's waiting room or those shakes of the head when the know-it-all doesn't think that drug is quite what you need. Those drugs are on their way to you before you have the chance for second thoughts. So what's the problem? Ah, insomnia. Finding it hard to get too sleep. Waking up too early. Feeling tired all the time. Well, let's take one step back. There's a possible cause and effect here. Fewer hours asleep and you feel tired. Except, the feeling of tiredness is not necessarily insomnia. Huh? Everyone tends to lump everything together. You feel tired when you wake up so you must have insomnia. Hmmm. . .

So just why are you finding it hard to sleep through the night? You're not in pain, are you? Sometimes a physical problem like arthritis can generate just enough pain to disturb you. Or perhaps you have restless leg syndrome. This is a problem linked to high blood pressure, the risk of a stroke and some brain disorders like Parkinson's disease. Some people find they cannot lie still. And then there's sleep apnea where you stop breathing and have to wake up to start again. There are a long list of possible reasons why you might be feeling tired. So before you launch off on your own self-medication path and buy Ambien online, get some specialist advice. This probably means getting past your primary caregiver if you're in a network. You should really go see a sleep specialist. There are centers all over the country that wire you up to a whole batch of machines to monitor this and that, and keep a video record of how much you move around. When the results come in you may find you grind your teeth and the noise wakes you up, so dentistry is the cure.

Although medical science is not as certain as doctors would have you believe (they still have to make their best guess some of the time), they stand a better chance of being right than you. This takes nothing away from Ambien. It does what it says, i.e, knocks you out for seven to eight hours. But it's not a treatment for any underlying physical cause for you feeling tired every morning. So rather than take the easy line, be prepared to claim on your health insurance policy or spend some money to find out for sure what's wrong. It's possible Ambien might be the right answer in the short term, but get expert confirmation first. The worst thing you could do is take a powerful drug to knock you out only to discover you are lining up for a stroke or you have sleep apnea and just don't wake up then next time you stop breathing.

Dieting for the older woman

When people sit down to write about dieting, there's a terrible temptation to assume everyone is the same. Well, that's never going to give you the best outcome. So here's some advice just for women who have been through the menopause. This can be a difficult time as one part of your life closes and another opens. There may be both physical and emotional adjustments to make. When it comes to your weight, there's one very important issue to think about. One of the longer-term risks to your health is losing bone density as you age. Unless you take care, this can turn into osteoporosis with the risk you can fracture bones very easily if you take a knock or fall. The latest research shows you are more at risk if you aim to lose weight eating a high protein diet.

The researcher took two groups of women aged between 43 and 80, lowering their daily intake by 750 calories a day over a period of 12 weeks. In the first group, half were given a diet without meat, relying on a vegetarian and diary diet (with eggs) to supply protein. The others ate higher amounts of protein in a diet containing lean meats like chicken and pork (the meat representing 40% of the food eaten). Interestingly, both groups an average of 19 pounds, but the meat-eaters lost bone density faster than those on a vegetarian diet. So, given there was no significant difference in the amount of weight lost, the vegetarian diet was safer over the longer term.

In the second group, the women all ate a diet of 1,250 calories per day for 9 weeks. Everyone had the same 1,000 calories as a vegetarian diet. One quarter took the additional 250 calories as chicken breast, the second as 250 calories of lean tenderloin beef, the third as shortbread cookies and sugar-coated chocolates, the remainder added 250 additional calories of vegetarian food. Again, all the women lost weight, but the three groups lost bone density against the low-protein vegetarian group.

Both studies suggest the need to look carefully at the source of the proteins you eat. This is not something you should aim to decide yourself. Discuss with a nutritionist how best to lose weight while maintaining the quality of muscle and bone. This is not to say this research is conclusive. In fact, it's quite controversial. The problem with the studies is the short period of time and the small numbers of participants. The limit of twelve weeks does not give a reliable guide. All it shows is a trend that might not last and represent a danger. Equally, although it's interesting a small number of women had this problem, it's no guide the same will happen to large numbers of women. Nevertheless, safety first. Take supplements if you have a high meat content in your diet. If you feel hungry when you start reducing the calorie intake, Phentermine is the ideal partner in your weight loss program. It suppresses your appetite and keeps your motivation high while your body is adjusting to a lower food intake. Always remember never to take Phentermine for too long. Although it's excellent moral support for short periods of time, you do not want to grow dependent. The price of losing weight should not be problems with Phentermine.

ED and its causes explained

Erectile dysfunction is a condition that most men fear worse than any other health problem. While this may sound quite illogical, knowing that there are many more serious diseases and conditions that can affect a man's health, erectile dysfunction still remains to be one of the most unpleasant that can happen. And it will certainly happen at a certain point of a man's life as almost all men experience erectile problems regardless of their age.

But what is erectile dysfunction?

Some men believe that erectile dysfunction (ED) is when they can get an erection from time to time. Occasional problems with erection are common in all men no matter what your friends would like you to believe about their abilities. A little stress at work, a close deadline you can't stop thinking about, too much beer last night - these are only some of examples when erection can go wrong. But this doesn't mean that you have erectile dysfunction! Doctors define erectile dysfunction as the inability to obtain and sustain an erection hard enough for successful intimacy in more than 25% of all attempts. And that's a lot more than you probably encounter. However, if your statistics are saying that you have ED it's time to pay your doctor a visit.

What can cause erectile dysfunction?

Before you rush off to buy Cialis, first learn what the causes of ED are because they are crucial for defining the right type of treatment to overcome the condition with. Erectile dysfunction usually has two types of causes behind it that are usually divided into physiological and psychological categories. Quite often there's a mix of both categories, however by improving any of the factors you will be able to overcome the main cause too.

Psychological causes of ED:

  • stress
  • fatigue
  • depression
  • mental illness
  • relationship problems
  • lack of interest in the current partner

Physiological causes of ED:

  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • kidney disease
  • heart disease
  • alcoholism or smoking
  • recreational drug abuse
  • medication side effects
  • physically deformed penis
  • injuries in the penile area

As you may understand different causes require different methods and you can't treat ED caused by depression with drugs like Cialis.

If you have a psychological factor causing erectile dysfunction then you will need a help of a psychotherapist, nothing more. An experienced profession is able to solve your problem in a couple of sessions without any medications or special procedures.

If your erectile problems are caused by physiological factors then you will need something more substantial than group therapy. First, by eliminating or improving the condition causing ED you will definitely experience improvements in your sexual abilities. For example, if you have diabetes lowering your blood sugar levels will contribute to better and stronger erections over some time. In most cases of when physiological factors are involved you can use drugs like generic Cialis to improve your condition. These drugs will increase the blood flow in the penile area that is usually affected by the majority of the mentioned conditions. If you are drinking, smoking or abusing street drugs you will notice substantial improvement in your erectile function after kicking these bad habits. Lifestyle changes can also be crucial for eliminating ED, especially if you have stationary work and don't have much physical activity throughout the day. Exercise more, switch to a healthier diet and your erections will improve respectively!

Diet Tips for those who suffers Acid Reflux

Acid reflux effects millions of Americans today, and some people don't even know they are in danger. If you are experiencing chronic heartburn that leads to serious discomfort and pain, you may be dealing with something more serious known as acid reflux disease, or GERD, gastroesophageal reflux disease. Because this disease depends on a high quantity of acid in your gastrointestinal tract, beginning with your stomach, you may be surprised at the role that diet plays in the control of this condition. Many myths today suggest that diet causes acid reflux, but this is not the case. While you can take comfort in the fact that you are not causing this problem yourself, you will need to know that making some diet changes will go a long way towards being proactive and taking control of your discomfort. Read here to find out what diet changes you can start today, to start noticing a difference in your discomfort level with acid reflux. With these diet changes in mind, you can enjoy healthy foods that keep you comfortable, and avoid the ones that trigger your nasty problem.

The main cause that food will play a role in your comfort is that food is responsible for acid production. Stomach uses acid in order to function properly, but too much is a bad thing as you have already noticed. When too much acid appears in your stomach, the excess leaks into your esophagus making you very uncomfortable. Controlling acid production in your stomach will ensure a more comfortable lifestyle for you.

A diet for GERD is very simple, and you will find it much less regimented than you think. You will simply want to avoid food that is fatty or spicy, and fried foods are a known trigger as well. Limiting these food choices are eliminating them all together will not only improve your GERD discomfort, but your overall health as well. Other things you want to avoid as well are chocolate, drinks containing caffeine, peppermint, soda, anything containing citrus, onions, garlic, and tomato based food products.

You should know that alcohol is another contributor of acid reflux. Alcohol works to relax the sphincter in the esophagus, which means that the sphincter that controls regurgitation will not work effectively when relaxed. Alcohol will not only increase your acid production, but will also limit your ability to control the pain and burn of regurgitation. If you are taking medication such as Aciphex for acid reflux, you may also find that alcohol will decrease its effects.

Controlling your acid reflux through diet tweaks alone may be all you need to take care of your condition. How well your diet changes will work for you will depend on your willingness to stick to the diet, the severity and frequency of your symptoms, and what your known individual food triggers are. If you have a mild case of GERD, this may be all you need. If however you are finding that your GERD is severe, and the diet is only helping moderately, you will need the help of acid reflux medication such as Aciphex.

Before you take Ambien

In most cases sleep disorders are caused by certain health problems or substances taken that interfere with normal sleep patterns. Here are some of the most common health conditions that are known to cause various sleep disorders as well as a short description of how the sleep gets affected by them. So, you have a risk of experiencing insomnia and other sleep disturbances if you suffer from:

1. Cardiovascular diseases

The most frequent types of cardiovascular diseases that are known to have a heavy impact on the quality of sleep include congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease. These conditions are both linked to the development of sleep apnea.

Congestive heart failure is described as the decreased ability of the heart to provide the body with sufficient blood for normal functioning. As a consequence, blood tends to flood up near the kidneys and the edema occurring because of that leads to severe damage to most of internal organs.

Coronary heart disease is described as the increased concentration of fatty substances in the arteries delivering the blood to the heart, which consequently leads to atherosclerosis.

2. Endocrine problems

Sleep disorders are often caused by dysfunctions of the endocrine system including conditions like thyroid dysfunction or diabetes. People who suffer from diabetes often have metabolism problems, and if not controlled this condition often results in restless leg syndrome.

Thyroid gland produces various hormones that regulate the energy circulation in the body. Patients with thyroid disorders often suffer from interrupted sleep.

3. Neurological issues

Neurological issues also cause sleep disorders, and conditions like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and strokes can often lead to bad sleep. Neurological conditions heavily affect the central nervous system and lead to interrupted sleep and insomnia, while strokes are often associated with sleep apnea.

4. Respiratory problems

People who have respiratory problems often deal with sleep disorders. Conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease usually lead to interrupted sleep and insomnia. That is because the troubled breathing and inflammation of the air passages affects the quality of sleep, making it hard to reach the REM stage.

5. Mental illnesses

In many cases of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and seasonal affective disorder are associated with insomnia and interrupted sleep.

6. GERD

GERD, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease, is characterized by the reflux of stomach acid to the esophagus, which usually happens during the night and causes sleep disturbance and fragmentation.

7. Kidney problems

Kidneys work by filtering the content of blood for waste substances, and when their functioning is decreased, these substances may poison the body and cause conditions like insomnia or restless leg syndrome.

8. Arthritis

Arthritis is often associated with chronic pain, which may cause interrupted sleep and insomnia.

If you have problems with sleep, don't rush off to buy Ambien right away. In most cases, improving the condition at cause of the problem allows to improve the quality of sleep in general. However, drugs like Ambien still can be of a help if the problems are too severe or the condition cannot be controlled that easy. Make sure to discuss the use of Ambien CR and other sleeping aids with your doctor in order to avoid interference and interactions with the conditions at cause.

What form of Ambien to take?

When searching for ways to resolve sleep problems, you are very likely to end up with a selection of effective drugs that come in different forms. Some drugs are more popular than others, some are preferred by doctors when prescribing medications for insomnia while others are simply over-the-counter medications. However, even when comparing pretty similar medications for sleep disorders, many observe that there are different ways of administration for each drug. And fact is that the form in which the medication enters your body makes a difference when addressing sleeping problems.

Typically there are two forms in which all sleeping aids are available: normal pills and extended release tablets. And in order to understand which form to use, you have to learn more about both the normal and extended release forms so that you could grasp the difference between them.

Both forms of sleeping aids are aimed at treating a range of sleep disorders, and both have different side effects that can take place when using each form of medication. Most sleeping aids work as muscle relaxants, helping both the body and the nervous system to calm down, which is rather hard when trying to cope with a sleeping problem.

Still, regular pills are known to have more common side effects as compared to the extended release form. Regular pills usually release the active element of the medication instantly upon its arrival to the stomach. The increased amount of active ingredients may cause side effects more often. Besides, the concentration of these ingredients usually wears off with time, which can influence the effectiveness of the drug at later stages of sleep.

Extended release tablets have a special coating that assures consistent release of the active ingredients over a longer period of time, which can be very beneficial for deep sleep stages. Clinical studies have confirmed that extended release tablets are more effective in treating sleep disorders connected to these phases than regular pills. Moreover, due to the fact that extended release tablets regulate the amount of active elements dissolved into the body, it's less likely to experience any side effects with this form of medication.

So, when you compare such drugs as Ambien and Ambien CR, for example, it is quite obvious which drug is more preferential for treating serious sleeping problems. While having the same composition and effectiveness, Ambien CR has lower risk of delivering any negative side effects and is more effective in dealing with problems in the deeper stages of sleep, which occur 4-5 hours after going to sleep.

Still, it is up to your doctor to decide which form of sleep aids is more suitable for you. If you have any sleeping problems you should first consult with your doctor and purchase the drug he or she has prescribed you with. Do not take any prescription drugs without your doctors consent, as some of them are addictive in nature or can deliver severe side effects if used incorrectly. Remember that sleeping aid medications should be taken under a professional doctor's supervision, as it is very important for your own good and health.
